Text: “Vaseline. Chesebrough. New-York.”
Size:. Medium
Description: This bottle comes from the inventor of Vaseline himself, “Chesebrough”. Born in 1837, he lived to the wise old age of 96, and believed that his secret to longevity was that he ate a spoonful of Vaseline every morning … This is a great votive-size candle with a rusty little cap. The eroded patterns in the cap come out wonderfully in the beeswax casting. circa - 1900
Burning Note: This is a small “votive sized” candle which should be burned for short periods of time, around 1 - ½ hour intervals. The easiest way to visually time candles is to make sure that the walls which hold in the wax pool are thinning out nicely through the burn, but not to let the wax walls melt away entirely.
Trimming the tip of the wick before each new burn is also beneficial. You can use scissors or nip the brittle end of the cold candle wick with your thumb nail. This eliminates any accumulation of carbon, burnt honey, pollen or propolis from the fabric and allows for a healthy flame and good flow of wax.
